Overview

A combination therapy consisting of granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC). G-CSF is a protein that stimulates bone marrow to produce and release neutrophils into the bloodstream and mobilizes CD34+ stem cells. NAC is a potent antioxidant that enhances glutathione (GSH) levels to counteract oxidative stress. This combination has been studied primarily for treating severe alcoholic hepatitis, with G-CSF showing benefits in improving liver function and survival rates, though the addition of NAC to G-CSF did not demonstrate additional benefits over G-CSF alone in some studies.
