Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-mobilized peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) are a cellular therapy product obtained from a donor (often haploidentical) after the administration of G-CSF to mobilize hematopoietic progenitor cells and other immune cells into the peripheral circulation. In the clinical setting of hematologic malignancies, these cells are infused as an adjunct to autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (auto-HSCT). The rationale is to harness the graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effect provided by the donor's immune cells, such as T cells and NK cells, to reduce the risk of relapse, while the autologous graft provides hematopoietic recovery. This approach aims to combine the safety of auto-HSCT with the immunological benefits of allogeneic therapy.
