Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor + prostaglandin E1 (also known as Kit-M) is an experimental immunomodulatory combination therapy being developed by Modiblast Pharma. It pairs granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), a recombinant cytokine, with prostaglandin E1 (PGE1, alprostadil), a small-molecule lipid mediator. The combination acts synergistically to convert myeloid leukemic blasts in whole blood or bone marrow into mature, antigen-presenting dendritic cells of leukemic origin (DC_leu). These DC_leu cells present leukemic antigens to the patient's own immune system, activating adaptive and innate immune cells (such as T cells, NK cells, and cytokine-induced killer cells) to target and lyse the remaining leukemic blasts without inducing blast proliferation. Kit-M is being developed for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), with plans to enter Phase 1a/2b clinical trials.
