**Grapefruit nanovesicles** are nanoscale, extracellular vesicles isolated from the juice or pulp of grapefruit. These vesicles act as natural lipid-based carriers capable of encapsulating and delivering diverse therapeutic agents, such as chemotherapeutics (e.g., doxorubicin), anti-inflammatory agents (e.g., curcumin), or nucleic acids. They leverage inherent biocompatibility, high stability, nontoxicity, and the ability to target specific tissues, such as inflamed sites or tumors. Mechanistically, grapefruit nanovesicles can be selectively taken up by immune cells (notably macrophages) and inflamed tissue, enhancing site specificity. They also exhibit inherent anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties, partly via regulation of inflammatory signaling pathways and the delivery of active metabolites or cargo. Grapefruit nanovesicles are being developed and studied as a platform for drug delivery in various diseases, including inflammatory conditions (like colitis), cancer (such as breast cancer, colon cancer, glioma, leukemia), and vascular calcification. They can be further functionalized, for example, with targeting peptides or aptamers, to enhance therapeutic specificity and efficacy[1][2][3][4][5][6][7].
