Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Grass pollen allergoid immunotherapy** is an investigational, short-course preseasonal subcutaneous allergen immunotherapy preparation for grass pollen-induced allergic rhinitis. In the registered study, it comprised extracts from six grass pollens chemically modified with formaldehyde to form an allergoid and adsorbed to aluminum hydroxide as a depot formulation; it was administered as seven weekly subcutaneous injections before the grass-pollen season. The intended mechanism is allergen-specific immune tolerance: repeated controlled exposure to modified grass-pollen allergens reduces clinically relevant IgE-mediated allergic responsiveness while promoting regulatory and blocking-antibody responses, including allergen-specific IgG4. No unique INN, sponsor code, brand, or manufacturer was identified for the exact study preparation.
