Overview

Grass-pollen extract is a biologically derived preparation made from the pollen of various grasses (commonly including rye, timothy, and others). It is used primarily in two contexts: - As an immunotherapy for allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and/or conjunctivitis caused by grass pollen allergy. In this setting, it works as an immunomodulator by gradually exposing the immune system to controlled amounts of allergenic proteins to induce tolerance and reduce allergic symptoms over time. This can be administered as sublingual tablets or subcutaneous injections[1][2][3][7][8][9]. - As a dietary supplement or natural product for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and other urological conditions. Here it may exert anti-inflammatory effects and relax smooth muscle in the prostate/bladder region[5][6]. Immunotherapy products are standardized extracts with defined potency; they do not provide immediate symptom relief but aim to modify disease course through long-term immune tolerance.
