Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GRC6211 is a small molecule, orally bioavailable antagonist of the Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid subtype-1 (TRPV1) receptor. Developed by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and later licensed to Eli Lilly, it was designed to treat various pain conditions and overactive bladder by blocking nociceptive signaling mediated by sensory neurons. Clinical development reached Phase II for indications such as postoperative dental pain, osteoarthritis pain, and neuropathic pain. However, development was discontinued after Eli Lilly suspended trials in 2008, though the compound remains a tool in scientific research.
