Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GRE1 is a human neutralizing monoclonal antibody developed by Pomona Ricerca that targets the major capsid protein (VP1) of the JC virus (JCV). By binding to VP1, GRE1 neutralizes the virus and blocks viral entry into host cells, thereby preventing the infection of oligodendrocytes. It is being developed for the treatment and prophylaxis of Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML), a rare and often fatal demyelinating disease of the central nervous system caused by the reactivation of JCV in immunocompromised individuals. The drug is currently in preclinical development and has been formulated in collaboration with Coriolis Pharma to ensure optimal stability and preservation conditions.
