Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Green calyx plum blossom, known in Chinese as Lǜ è méi, refers to the dried flower buds of *Prunus mume* Sieb. et Zucc. var. *mume* f. *viridicalyx*. It is a staple in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), valued for its ability to soothe the liver, regulate qi, and harmonize the stomach. Unlike other plum blossoms, the green calyx variety is considered superior for medicinal use due to its mild nature and aromatic properties. It is primarily indicated for treating 'plum-pit qi' (globus hystericus), chest and hypochondriac pain resulting from liver qi stagnation, and digestive complaints such as epigastric distension and loss of appetite. Pharmacologically, it contains volatile oils like benzaldehyde and various flavonoids, which contribute to its therapeutic effects.
