Greenstatin (MG1102) is a recombinant human angiostatin-like protein, specifically comprising the first three kringle domains (K1-3) of human plasminogen. Developed by GC Biopharma (formerly Green Cross Corporation), it was designed as an anti-angiogenic therapy for the treatment of advanced solid tumors. The drug functions by inhibiting the proliferation and migration of vascular endothelial cells and inducing apoptosis, thereby disrupting the formation of new blood vessels required for tumor growth and survival. Its molecular mechanism involves binding to cell-surface targets on endothelial cells, including the alpha/beta subunits of ATP synthase and angiomotin. MG1102 was evaluated in a Phase 1 dose-escalation study to determine its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in patients with refractory solid tumors, though clinical development appears to have ceased following the completion of early-stage trials.
