Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gripex is a prominent over-the-counter (OTC) multi-symptom cold and flu medication brand owned and marketed by the Polish healthcare company USP Zdrowie. The standard formulation is a combination of three active ingredients: paracetamol, pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, and dextromethorphan hydrobromide. Paracetamol serves as an analgesic and antipyretic by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. Pseudoephedrine acts as a nasal decongestant through alpha-adrenergic receptor agonism, causing vasoconstriction in the nasal mucosa. Dextromethorphan provides antitussive effects by acting on the cough center in the medulla oblongata, primarily as a sigma-1 receptor agonist. Gripex is widely used in Poland for the symptomatic relief of fever, pain, nasal congestion, and dry cough associated with viral upper respiratory infections. The brand includes several variants with different ingredient combinations and dosages to target specific symptom profiles.
