Overview
Grippostad C is an over-the-counter combination medication developed by STADA Arzneimittel AG for the symptomatic treatment of common colds and flu-like infections. It is formulated as a small molecule oral medication containing four active ingredients: paracetamol (analgesic and antipyretic), chlorphenamine maleate (antihistamine), caffeine (analgesic adjuvant and stimulant), and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). Paracetamol provides pain relief and fever reduction by inhibiting prostaglandin G/H synthase 1 and 2. Chlorphenamine maleate targets the histamine H1 receptor to alleviate nasal congestion and mucus secretion. Caffeine acts as an antagonist at adenosine A1 and A2a receptors and inhibits phosphodiesterase, which enhances the analgesic effect of paracetamol and counteracts antihistamine-induced drowsiness. Ascorbic acid serves as an antioxidant to support immune function during infection. The product is available in various oral forms, including hard capsules and drinking granules.
