Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The group A and C meningococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine is a bivalent biologic designed to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C. It consists of capsular polysaccharides from these serogroups chemically conjugated to a carrier protein, such as tetanus toxoid or diphtheria toxoid, to enhance immunogenicity and induce T-cell dependent immune responses, which are particularly effective in infants and young children. This vaccine has been evaluated in clinical trials, including Phase 4 re-registration studies in China conducted by the Shanxi Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, where it was assessed for safety, immunogenicity, and persistence when administered as a multi-dose primary series with a booster.
