Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The group A meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine is a vaccine composed of purified capsular polysaccharides derived from *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup A. It functions by stimulating the body's immune system to produce specific antibodies against the serogroup A capsule, thereby conferring protection against invasive meningococcal disease, particularly meningococcal meningitis, caused by this specific serogroup. As a T-cell independent immunogen, it induces an immune response without T-cell involvement and typically does not generate immunological memory.
