Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is an investigational quadrivalent conjugate vaccine developed by Sinovac Biotech for the prevention of epidemic meningitis (invasive meningococcal disease) caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. The vaccine utilizes capsular polysaccharides from these four serogroups, each chemically conjugated to a carrier protein. This conjugation process is designed to convert the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, thereby enhancing immunogenicity, particularly in infants and young children, and promoting the development of long-term immunological memory. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials to compare its safety and immunogenicity against licensed active comparators in the pediatric population.
