Overview
Group ACYW135 Meningococcal Polysaccharide Vaccine (MPV ACYW135) is a lyophilized vaccine containing purified capsular polysaccharides from Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. Developed by Yuxi Walvax Biotechnology (a subsidiary of Walvax Biotechnology), it is indicated for active immunization to prevent invasive meningococcal diseases caused by these serogroups in individuals aged 2 years and above who are at increased risk. The mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against the capsular polysaccharides of N. meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y and W-135. The vaccine has been licensed in China since 2012 and is registered in several other countries with over 12 million doses distributed worldwide[4][5][7]. Clinical studies have demonstrated that a single dose elicits non-inferior immune responses compared to Menactra (Sanofi Pasteur), with a comparable safety profile[4][7].
