This is a combination of two agents—growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), a hypothalamic peptide that stimulates the release of growth hormone (GH) from the anterior pituitary, and pyridostigmine, an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. Pyridostigmine increases cholinergic tone and is believed to enhance GH secretion by inhibiting somatostatin release from the hypothalamus, thereby reducing its inhibitory effect on GH secretion. When administered together, GHRH directly stimulates GH release while pyridostigmine potentiates this effect by decreasing somatostatin-mediated inhibition. This combination has been used in research settings to assess pituitary function and investigate mechanisms regulating GH secretion in both healthy individuals and patients with endocrine disorders[1][2][3][4][6].
