GRP78.SSR

GRP78.SSR is a proprietary peptide-based targeting ligand developed by SomaServe using its PolyNaut platform. It is designed to specifically bind to cell-surface Glucose-Regulated Protein 78 (GRP78), also known as HSPA5 or BiP. While GRP78 is typically an endoplasmic reticulum-resident chaperone, it is frequently overexpressed and translocated to the plasma membrane in various aggressive cancers, including glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). GRP78.SSR serves as a targeting moiety for bionanoparticles, facilitating the transport of therapeutic payloads—such as small molecules, chemotherapy, or nucleic acids—across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and into tumor cells via receptor-mediated endocytosis. This approach aims to enhance the precision of drug delivery to the central nervous system while reducing systemic toxicity.
