GRPR theranostic

Starget Pharma's GRPR theranostic is a preclinical-stage radiopharmaceutical program targeting the gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR). GRPR is a G protein-coupled receptor that is frequently overexpressed in several types of solid tumors, including prostate, breast, and lung cancers, as well as gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). As a theranostic agent, the program aims to utilize the same targeting ligand for both diagnostic imaging (when labeled with a positron-emitting isotope like Gallium-68) and targeted radionuclide therapy (when labeled with a beta- or alpha-emitting isotope like Lutetium-177 or Actinium-225). This approach allows for the selection of patients who express the target and the subsequent delivery of cytotoxic radiation directly to the tumor sites.
