Overview

Gryllus bimaculatus ethanol extract (GBE) is a natural product derived from the two-spotted cricket, an edible insect used in traditional medicine. It is prepared by extracting dried and ground crickets with 70% ethanol. GBE is rich in proteins and unsaturated fatty acids and has demonstrated a range of pharmacological activities in preclinical models, including anti-thrombotic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and hepatoprotective effects. Its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (integrin αIIb/β3) for anti-platelet activity, modulation of the AKT/mTOR pathway for metabolic effects, and induction of apoptosis in cancer cells. It is primarily studied in academic research for potential applications in cardiovascular disease, liver disease, and metabolic disorders.
