Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GS-5894 is an investigational small molecule non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) being developed by Gilead Sciences in collaboration with the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IOCB). It is designed for the treatment of HIV-1 infection with a pharmacokinetic and metabolic profile that supports once-weekly oral dosing. GS-5894 targets the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase enzyme and has demonstrated a high genetic barrier to resistance, maintaining potency against clinical isolates from NNRTI-experienced patients. It is currently in Phase I clinical development.
