Overview

GS-8670 is a small molecule farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist developed by Gilead Sciences, originally part of a program acquired from Medivir. FXR is a nuclear receptor that plays a central role in bile acid regulation, intestinal barrier integrity, and immune modulation. GS-8670 is being investigated for its potential to treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) by restoring epithelial barrier function and modulating intestinal inflammation. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in models of colitis, and it has progressed into early-stage clinical trials.
