Overview

GSK-945237 is an investigational small molecule antibacterial agent developed by GSK. It has demonstrated in vitro and in vivo activity against both Gram-positive (including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus [MRSA]) and Gram-negative pathogens associated with respiratory tract infections as well as skin and soft tissue infections. Notably, it shows efficacy against isolates resistant to existing classes of antimicrobials[1][9]. The drug was evaluated for safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics—including the effect of food—via oral administration in healthy adults[4]. Clinical development included Phase 1 trials for bacterial infections but these were withdrawn or discontinued before further advancement[3].
