Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The GSK AS25-adjuvanted influenza vaccine (GSK576389A, FluAS25) is an investigational inactivated biologic vaccine developed by GSK for the prevention of seasonal influenza, specifically targeting elderly adults (≥65 years). The vaccine contains haemagglutinin (HA) antigens from inactivated influenza virus strains and utilizes GSK's proprietary AS25 adjuvant system to enhance immunogenicity in the aging immune system. It has been evaluated in Phase II clinical trials (e.g., NCT00633074) comparing thiomersal-free and thiomersal-reduced formulations to assess safety and haemagglutination-inhibition (HI) antibody responses.
