Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GSK's investigational adjuvanted HPV vaccine is a 9-valent recombinant biologic vaccine candidate developed to prevent infections and associated clinical diseases caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58. The vaccine is formulated with GSK's proprietary AS04 adjuvant system, which combines aluminum hydroxide with 3-O-desacyl-4'-monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL), a Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) agonist. This adjuvant system is designed to enhance the magnitude and duration of the immune response compared to non-adjuvanted formulations. The vaccine is currently in Phase 1/2 clinical development (NCT05496231), where its safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity are being evaluated in healthy young women in comparison to the licensed 9-valent HPV vaccine (Gardasil 9).
