Overview

GSK mRNA-based multivalent seasonal influenza vaccine (GSK4393103A) is an investigational mRNA vaccine candidate developed by GSK for the prevention of seasonal influenza. The vaccine utilizes a messenger RNA platform to encode for hemagglutinin (HA) antigens from multiple influenza A and B strains. By delivering these genetic instructions, the vaccine prompts the recipient's cells to produce the viral proteins, thereby stimulating a robust immune response, including the production of neutralizing antibodies and T-cell activation. This mRNA approach is designed to offer improved manufacturing speed and potentially higher efficacy compared to traditional egg-based vaccines, particularly in matching circulating strains. Following the termination of its collaboration with CureVac for this program in 2024, GSK assumed full control of the development. It is currently in Phase 2 clinical evaluation.
