Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The GSK Neisseria gonorrhoeae GMMA (NgG) vaccine is an investigational biologic vaccine developed by GSK to prevent gonorrhea, a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium *Neisseria gonorrhoeae*. The vaccine utilizes Generalized Modules for Membrane Antigens (GMMA) technology, which consists of genetically detoxified outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) derived from the *N. gonorrhoeae* FA1090 strain. These vesicles are engineered to reduce endotoxin activity and carry a broad range of bacterial antigens, including lipooligosaccharide and various outer membrane proteins, to elicit a functional immune response against multiple gonococcal strains. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials and has received Fast Track designation from the FDA.
