GSK1362885 is a novel, potent small molecule inhibitor of human glycogen phosphorylase (GP), developed by GSK for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting glycogen phosphorylase, an enzyme critical for glycogen breakdown in the liver and muscle, thereby reducing hepatic glucose output and lowering blood glucose levels.
