Overview

GSK137647 is a potent, selective, and non-carboxylic acid small molecule agonist of the free fatty acid receptor 4 (FFA4, also known as GPR120). Developed by GSK, it exhibits high selectivity for FFA4 over other free fatty acid receptors (FFA1, FFA2, and FFA3). GSK137647 is widely used as a chemical probe in preclinical research to investigate the physiological roles of FFA4 in metabolic regulation, glucose homeostasis, insulin secretion, and anti-inflammatory pathways. It has been shown to enhance glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in pancreatic beta cells and attenuate inflammatory responses in macrophages and adipocytes.
