Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GSK208136 is a live attenuated, tetravalent measles-mumps-rubella-varicella (MMRV) vaccine developed by GSK as a combined formulation to provide simultaneous immunization against measles virus, mumps virus, rubella virus, and varicella-zoster virus in young children.[2][3][8] It contains the same live attenuated viral strains used in GSK’s licensed monovalent or trivalent pediatric vaccines (Priorix and Varilrix), formulated as a single-dose MMRV product (commercially known as Priorix-Tetra) to simplify vaccination schedules and improve coverage.[2][3][7][8] The vaccine induces protective humoral immune responses (seroconversion and robust antibody titers) to all four viruses and has been evaluated in multiple phase III studies for immunogenicity, reactogenicity, and safety in 11–24‑month‑old children and in two‑dose schedules in the second year of life, including for registration in Korea.[1][2][3][5][7][9] As a live viral vaccine, it is administered subcutaneously and is contraindicated in individuals with immunodeficiency or other standard contraindications to live attenuated viral vaccines.[7][9]
