Overview
GSK2302024A is a therapeutic peptide vaccine developed as a cancer immunotherapy targeting the Wilms' Tumor 1 (WT1) antigen. It is classified as a genetically engineered subunit vaccine and functions as an immunomodulator, specifically designed to stimulate an immune response against cells expressing the WT1 protein, which is overexpressed in various cancers. The drug was primarily investigated for use in breast cancer, particularly as neoadjuvant therapy in combination with standard treatments. Developed by GSK (GlaxoSmithKline), it reached phase II clinical trials before development was discontinued for breast cancer[1][3][9]. Side effects observed during trials included injection site reactions, flu-like symptoms, fatigue, gastrointestinal disturbances, and potential risks to organs that naturally express WT1 such as kidneys and heart[4].
