Overview

This is a combination of two direct-acting antiviral agents for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. **GSK2336805** (also known as JNJ-56914845) is a potent inhibitor of the HCV NS5A replication complex, which blocks viral RNA replication and assembly. **Simeprevir** is a small molecule inhibitor of the HCV NS3/4A protease, which is essential for viral replication. This combination has been studied for the treatment of chronic HCV genotype 1 infection, with trials demonstrating antiviral activity, particularly when used as part of multi-drug regimens[1]. Both drugs inhibit different steps in the HCV life cycle, potentially providing synergistic antiviral effects. GSK2336805 was originally developed by GSK and further researched by Janssen/J&J. Simeprevir was developed by Medivir and Janssen/J&J[1].
