Overview

GSK2634673F is a fluorine-18 ([18F]) labeled synthetic peptide derived from the foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) coat protein. It functions as a highly specific positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer targeting the integrin alpha(V)beta6. This integrin is typically absent in healthy adult tissues but is significantly upregulated in various cancers and fibrotic conditions, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Developed by GSK, the ligand is used to non-invasively quantify alpha(V)beta6 expression levels, providing a potential biomarker for disease activity and treatment response in fibrotic lung diseases. The peptide sequence is based on the A20FMDV2 peptide, which contains the RGD motif recognized by the integrin.
