Overview

GSK2789869A is an investigational, AS03-adjuvanted split-virus influenza vaccine developed by GSK for the prevention of human infection with the H7N1 subtype of Influenza A virus. The vaccine contains hemagglutinin antigen derived from the A/mallard/Netherlands/12/2000 (H7N1) strain and is formulated with or without the AS03 adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity. It was designed as a model for potential pandemic preparedness, particularly in response to concerns about avian influenza strains such as H7N9, using a similar manufacturing process. Clinical studies have evaluated its safety and immunogenicity in adults aged 21–64 and those 65 years and older, showing that adjuvanted formulations induced antibody responses after two doses[2][1][4]. The product has not been approved for marketing.
