Overview

GSK2837808A is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA), an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of pyruvate to lactate in the final step of anaerobic glycolysis. Developed by GSK, this compound is widely utilized as a research tool to investigate glycolytic reprogramming (the Warburg effect) in various disease states, including oncology and inflammatory respiratory conditions. In preclinical models of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), GSK2837808A has demonstrated the ability to reduce lactate production and viral load in human lung epithelial cells, suggesting that targeting the IL-33-LDHA-lactate axis may improve antiviral defenses and reduce the severity of viral exacerbations.
