Overview

GSK2849466 is an investigational selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) that was developed by GlaxoSmithKline (now known as GSK). The drug was designed to selectively modulate the androgen receptor, aiming to provide anabolic benefits with fewer side effects compared to traditional androgens. Its primary indications were for the treatment of cachexia and heart failure. Clinical development reached Phase I, where it was evaluated for safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in healthy male subjects using single and repeat oral dosing regimens. However, development of GSK2849466 was discontinued after completion of Phase I studies[1][2][7][9].
