Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**GSK2890457** is an investigational, orally administered nutritional-agent mixture developed by GSK for metabolic disease research. It contains oligofructosaccharide, apple pectin, blackcurrant extract, and oleic acid in a 5:5:2:3 ratio. The formulation was designed to modulate nutrient sensing, gut microbiota-related metabolism, and endogenous gut-peptide release to improve body weight and glycemic control. It showed marked synergistic effects with a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist in obese and diabetic mouse models, but did not produce clinically meaningful weight-loss or glycemic benefits in a six-week study in people with type 2 diabetes receiving liraglutide or metformin.
