Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GSK2890457 + liraglutide is an investigational combination therapy consisting of GSK2890457—a blend of four nutritional agents identified through systematic screening in preclinical models—and liraglutide, a glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. The combination was studied for its potential effects on weight loss and glycemic control in both animal models and humans. In rodent studies, the combination produced significant reductions in body weight and blood glucose. However, clinical trials in humans showed that while the regimen was well tolerated, it did not result in meaningful weight loss or substantial improvements in glycemic control compared to placebo when added to standard doses of liraglutide or metformin[6][3][1]. Liraglutide itself is an approved GLP-1 analog used for type 2 diabetes and obesity management[5].
