Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GSK3050002 is a humanized IgG1κ monoclonal antibody that binds with high affinity to the chemokine CCL20. By neutralizing CCL20, it inhibits the recruitment of CCR6+ cells (a subset of white blood cells) to sites of inflammation. This mechanism targets immune cell trafficking involved in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The drug was developed by GlaxoSmithKline (now GSK), in collaboration with Morphotek (a subsidiary of Eisai), based on an original non-humanized antibody from KAN Research Institute. It was investigated primarily for psoriatic arthritis and ulcerative colitis but development has been discontinued for these indications[1][4][5][7][9].
