Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GSK3206640A is an investigational monovalent inactivated influenza vaccine candidate developed by GSK for the prevention of H7N9 avian influenza. It consists of 15 µg of hemagglutinin (HA) antigen derived from the A/Shanghai/2/2013 (H7N9) strain, formulated with the AS03 adjuvant system (an oil-in-water emulsion containing squalene and alpha-tocopherol). The vaccine was evaluated in clinical trials to assess its safety and immunogenicity in adults, particularly in the context of pandemic preparedness against H7N9 influenza viruses, which have shown potential for human-to-human transmission.
