GSK3277513A is an investigational, adjuvanted protein subunit vaccine developed by GSK for the prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations. The vaccine targets two major bacterial pathogens involved in COPD lung infections: nontypeable *Haemophilus influenzae* (NTHi) and *Moraxella catarrhalis* (Mcat). It contains four recombinant surface proteins: Protein D, a fusion protein of Protein E and Pilin A (PE-PilA) from NTHi, and the Ubiquitous surface protein A2 (UspA2) from Mcat. The formulation utilizes GSK's proprietary AS01E adjuvant system, which contains the TLR4 agonist 3-O-desacyl-4'-monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL) and the saponin QS-21, to enhance the magnitude and durability of the immune response in the target population of older adults and smokers.
