Overview

GSK3528885 is an investigational therapeutic vaccine developed by GSK for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB). It is a viral vector vaccine based on a non-replicating chimpanzee adenovirus (ChAd153) platform, engineered to express multiple hepatitis B virus (HBV) antigens, including the surface antigen (HBsAg), core antigen (HBcAg), and polymerase. The vaccine is designed to elicit a potent and broad T-cell-mediated immune response, specifically targeting CD8+ and CD4+ T-cells to overcome the immune exhaustion characteristic of chronic HBV infection and facilitate the clearance of infected hepatocytes. GSK3528885 is frequently evaluated in clinical trials as part of a heterologous prime-boost regimen, often paired with a Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) vector vaccine (GSK3965193) or in combination with other therapeutic agents like the antisense oligonucleotide bepirovirsen.
