Overview

GSK3923868 is an investigational small molecule drug developed by GSK for the treatment of respiratory diseases, primarily targeting human rhinovirus (HRV) infections and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It acts as a selective and potent inhibitor of phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase beta (PI4KB), a host cell enzyme essential for viral replication. By inhibiting PI4KB, GSK3923868 aims to reduce HRV-driven symptoms and exacerbations while allowing normal immune clearance of the virus. The drug is administered via inhalation powder or orally and has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and proof-of-mechanism in both healthy volunteers and patients with asthma or COPD[1][5][6][7][8].
