Overview

GSK4425689A is a monoclonal antibody (mAb) designed for the prevention of malaria caused by *Plasmodium falciparum*. Developed by GSK, the antibody specifically targets the circumsporozoite protein (PfCSP), which is the dominant surface protein on the malaria parasite during the sporozoite stage. By binding to the PfCSP, GSK4425689A neutralizes the sporozoites injected by mosquitoes, preventing them from invading liver cells and establishing a productive infection. This passive immunization approach is intended to provide immediate and high-level protection against malaria. The drug is currently in early-stage clinical development, with Phase 1 trials evaluating its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile following intravenous or subcutaneous administration in healthy adults.
