Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GSK513026 is an 11-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine developed by GSK for the prevention of invasive pneumococcal disease and pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae. As a conjugate vaccine, it consists of pneumococcal polysaccharides from 11 different serotypes conjugated to carrier proteins to enhance the immune response, particularly in populations with reduced immune fitness such as the elderly. The vaccine was evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials to assess its safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity in healthy adults aged 65 years and older, comparing various formulations with and without adjuvants against the licensed 23-valent polysaccharide vaccine (Pneumovax 23).
