GSK6582701 is an investigational small molecule dual inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 3 (PDE3) and phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) enzymes. Developed by GSK, the compound is being evaluated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). By inhibiting both PDE3 and PDE4, the drug increases intracellular levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), which leads to suppressed inflammatory cell activity and relaxation of airway smooth muscle (bronchodilation). This dual mechanism is intended to provide therapeutic benefit by combining anti-inflammatory and bronchodilatory effects. The drug was originally part of an alliance or in-licensing agreement (associated with GSK's Stiefel division) and is currently in Phase I clinical development.
