Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GSK6759821 (also known as EMP-012) is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic candidate being developed by GSK in partnership with Empirico Inc. for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The drug is designed to modulate gene expression by targeting a specific inflammatory pathway implicated in COPD that is distinct from type 2 inflammation, a target identified through extensive genetic data. GSK acquired the rights to the candidate from Empirico in October 2025. GSK6759821 is intended to be a long-acting therapy and is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, with potential application as both a monotherapy and in combination with other GSK COPD treatments for a broad spectrum of patients, including those with limited options for non-type 2 inflammation.
