Overview

GSK706769 is an investigational small molecule drug developed by GSK as a CCR5 receptor antagonist. It was originally developed as a potential oral therapy for HIV-1 infection, targeting the C-C chemokine receptor type 5 (CCR5), which is involved in HIV entry into host cells. The drug was also studied for its ability to maintain clinical remission in rheumatoid arthritis patients after withdrawal of Enbrel (etanercept). Clinical development included several phase I studies, but no recent reports of further development have been identified and its global highest R&D status is discontinued[2][3].
