Overview

GSK933776 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by GSK (formerly GlaxoSmithKline) that targets the N-terminal region of amyloid beta peptide. Its mechanism of action involves binding to and inhibiting amyloid beta, aiming to reduce amyloid plaque formation implicated in neurodegenerative diseases. The drug was primarily investigated for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and geographic atrophy secondary to age-related macular degeneration. Clinical studies included intravenous, subcutaneous, and intramuscular administration routes. While it demonstrated safety and tolerability in trials, it did not show efficacy in slowing disease progression or improving clinical outcomes in these indications[2][6][7][8].
