Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GST-HG181 is an investigational small molecule 3C-like protease (3CLpro) inhibitor developed by Fujian Akeylink Biotechnology for the treatment of COVID-19. It is specifically designed as a single-agent therapy that does not require pharmacokinetic boosting with Ritonavir, a feature that distinguishes it from other protease inhibitors like Paxlovid or Akeylink's own Tazovid. By targeting the 3CL protease (also known as the main protease or Mpro), which is essential for the cleavage of viral polyproteins into functional units, GST-HG181 effectively halts SARS-CoV-2 replication. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
